What is a “Culturally Responsive” teacher?
The Pritzker Administration initially said such teachers focus on identity politics for curriculum content, and “embrace and encourage progressive viewpoints”:
*In the ed literature, an asset-based approach “views diversity in thought, culture, and traits” as the value students have in the classroom; insists that culture is never a reason why students do poorly in the classroom; and also refuses to assume students “may need to work on or lack“ skills. After ISBE gets caught, they revise the guidelines to remove the overtly politicized words, but keep the flawed principles.
December 2020, final rules presented: all Repubs. vote no, all Dems vote yes.
Examples of changes:

Instead of integrity, focus on power-and-privilege advocacy:

Cut parents and the community out of the learning process and goals
